Bachelor of Science in Nursing - Accelerated Track
The UMKC School of Nursing offers a B.S.N. program with an accelerated track (AT) that was granted full approval by the Missouri State Board of Nursing on August 27, 2009. The curriculum prepares students to succeed as nurses in the management of health and includes complex problem solving, nursing leadership and management skills in addition to clinical experiences.
Program Requirements |
This program is designed for students who already have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and have decided they want to get a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). This track takes the three year pre-licensure course work and condenses it in half for an 18 month completion timeframe.
A sample plan of study for this program is below. Science courses must be no more than five years old by the time you are accepted into the program. You must have all final pre-requisite courses completed during the fall as the clinical courses begin in the spring semester. Courses are offered during the day and it will not be possible to work while completing course work and clinical rotations.
You can apply to UMKC by going to http://www.umkc.edu/admissions/ You must also complete the School of Nursing application which is posted below. The nursing application is due July 1 and 16 of the 22-23 pre-requisite course credit hours must be completed, with grades, for the July submittal. It is recommended that the science courses and nutrition, with grades posted, be completed by the July 1 application deadline. Then the Pathophysiology and statistics courses can be completed the following fall semester, if accepted. The Student Affairs Committee will review your application, bachelor’s transcripts and GPA, pre-requisite courses, resume or CV, and written essay. An interview may be requested.
