Biography: Ms. Klaassen has been a nurse educator for over 18 years. She currently teaches full-time for the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Nursing in both the pre-licensure and RN-BSN nursing programs. She is the Director of the UMKC RN-BSN Rural Nurse Initiative, a HRSA-funded grant to provide nursing education to rural nurses. She participates in research on the use of simulation to teach legal/ethical principles to nursing students and presents on technology applications for nursing education and legal issues related to health care. A licensed nurse and attorney in both Missouri and Kansas, she practices as a community-based psychiatric-mental health nurse and currently maintains a solo legal practice.
