Faculty and Staff

Faculty members at the UMKC School of Nursing are practicing professionals. Clinical faculty and those who teach in courses where information changes rapidly must be in clinical practice in addition to their teaching duties. In recent years, these faculty spent at least 10 percent of their time in active clinical practice, bringing that experience to students.

Research faculty members at the School of Nursing have a wide range of areas in which they have funded research support, and published or presented their findings. Those areas include HIV/AIDS, cancer, sickle cell, pain management, Alzheimer's disease, asthma, cardiovascular function in pregnancy, and quality of life issues for patients.

The School has a commitment to producing health care professionals who can succeed in the information age of health care - in any setting and with a diversity of cultures. That commitment is reflected in the curriculum.
