Faculty and Staff
Faculty members at the UMKC School of Nursing are practicing professionals. Clinical faculty and those who teach in courses where information changes rapidly must be in clinical practice in addition to their teaching duties. In recent years, these faculty spent at least 10 percent of their time in active clinical practice, bringing that experience to students.
Research faculty members at the School of Nursing have research collaborations, funding, publications and presentations in a wide range of areas. Unique to our research faculty is the extent of our expertise from basic laboratory science to clinical and community health science in areas, such as HIV/AIDS prevention, cultural context of cancer , cardiovascular and muscle health, violence prevention, and quality of life .
The School has a commitment to producing health care professionals who can succeed in the information age of health care - in any setting and with a diversity of cultures. That commitment is reflected in the curriculum.
