The UMKC School of Nursing has an ideal program for students entering college after high school. There is an Introduction to Nursing course that you can take your freshman year, and if enrolled in the four year plan, you apply for clinical placement during your first year and if admitted, begin clinical coursework your sophomore year.
If your high school allows you to take dual credit or advanced placement courses, please be certain that you look at your plan of study so you take courses that will be applicable to our program. For example, if you receive college credit for English Composition I or II, we will apply those courses to our nursing plan. If you take Western Civilization, UMKC will accept those college credit hours, BUT we will not be able to add that course into our nursing plan since it is not required. So, please be certain to take courses that we need. If you are not completely certain, please feel free to call our office and check on the class(es)!
