Question: What is the residency requirement?

    2. 3 terms of 8 credits each term of resident coursework at UMKC, to be completed within 18 months and following the completion of at least 24 graduate study credits

Question: How many of my transfer hours will apply toward your program?

Answer: Graduate credit earned at another institution prior to admission into the PhD program might be applied if it's of acceptable quality and appropriate to the student’s degree program.

After admission to the doctoral program, if a student wishes to take graduate coursework at another institution and apply it to his or her doctoral program, the student must receive written approval from the doctoral program's graduate officer or from the student's supervisory committee chair, as appropriate, before the coursework is taken. Such coursework is not considered as transfer credit. Upon completion of the coursework, the student must have the official transcript forwarded to the UMKC registrar.

    Question: How are classes scheduled?

Answer: Other than the summer institute, they will all be on-line if you choose that option. On-line courses utilize Blackboard and webcam technology.

If you choose the on-site option, classes at the School of Nursing are primarily offered on Thursdays or Fridays, mainly in blocks of time. For example, a three-hour course would generally be offered from 8:30 to 11:30. Classes offered outside the School of Nursing (collateral or statistics courses) may not be offered on Thursdays or Fridays or in blocks of time.
